We all juggle a million things, and saying "I don't have time" feels like the easiest response. But is it really true?
Here's the magic: When we use the "priority" frame, we own our choices.
Try it:
Saying "my health isn't a priority" feels different than "I don't have time to see the doctor," doesn't it?
Saying “my career isn’t a priority” is very different from “I don’t have time to do my CV”
Saying “my relationship isn’t a priority” is quite different from “I don’t have time to spend quality time together”
Changing our language reminds us that we are always at choice.
This language shift sparks self-awareness: If saying that doesn’t feel right, that’s the point. It's a sign to re-evaluate your priorities. If you don't like how you're spending your mornings or evenings, you can choose differently most of the time. If you don’t like your job, do something about it. Make it a priority. Your future self will thank you 🫶
This reframe is incredibly powerful. Acknowledging that something is actually not a priority can free you from that pressure, you can delegate the task or take it off your to-do list altogether. But most importantly, when it feels off, that’s your cue to revisit your priorities.
